Help Fill A Dream Foundation

Inspiring hope for Vancouver Island's children with life-threatening conditions.
Over the years, 1,900 children have realized their dreams, but there are many more that need support.

CHALLENGE:
March 31-April 1, 2012 — Rink of Dreams: 24hr Hockey Tournament
Location: Victoria BC, Canada
Lee-Anne and Kara participated in a 24hr hockey tournament for kids facing life-threatening illnesses. It. Was. Awesome. We still don't know how to get in and out of the gear without falling over while we jersey each other. Kara probably set a world record for how many times a player has bailed in a game. The volunteers, families, and dreams filled touched our hearts and we can't wait for you to see it all in the first episode.
MS Society of Canada

Dedicated to being a leader in finding a cure for Multiple Sclerosis and enabling people affected by MS to enhance their quality of life.
Every day three Canadians are diagnosed with MS.

CHALLENGE:
September 9, 2012 — 12km Rona MS Bike Tour
Location: Kamloops BC, Canada
Sounds easy enough, buuuut Kara doesn't know how to ride a bike. Yes, you read that right. Lee-Anne will teach her so they can complete the ride in Kara's hometown, where she should have learned in the first place. We're talking elbow pads and training wheels and that moment that happens in slow motion when you let go and your child rides away... except it's Lee-Anne's proud moment and Kara will be 26. Oh yeah, and we both have multiple sclerosis. Piece of cake.
Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation of Canada

To find a cure for diabetes and its complications through the support of research.
Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease that strikes children and adults suddenly, but lasts a lifetime. Living with Type 1 diabetes requires approximately 1,416 needles a year. Diabetes currently affects 246,000,000 people worldwide and is expected to affect 380,000,000 by 2025.

CHALLENGE:
September 14-23, 2012 — Great Wall of China Trek
Location: China
We don't mess around. There are young people out there fighting this disease, having to monitor insulin levels, deal with injections, and manage their sugar budget while other children count pennies from their piggy banks. If people can face this every day, then Lee-Anne and Kara can face the Great Wall.
Cystic Fibrosis Trust (UK)

Living longer, living better.
Each week, five babies are born with CF. Each week, two young lives are lost to CF.

CHALLENGE:
September 27, 2012 — Skydiving
Location: London, UK
In life we must face our fears; sometimes we choose to and sometimes we have no choice. When you are diagnosed with an illness you must wake up each morning, stare it right in the face, and decide you will not be afraid of it. So, two girls with MS, one awesome dude with cystic fibrosis and his awesome friend will leap from a plane over London. If we're going to let anything frighten us in this life, it's going to be the fun stuff.

CHALLENGE:
October 19-24, 2012 — Sahara Desert Trek
Location: Tunisia, Africa
Oh dear. The desert covers most of North Africa, making it almost as large as China or the United States. Oh brother. We'll trek for five full days in extreme temperatures, sleep in camps and cook on an open fire, and we'll do it with heart for The Simon Keith Foundation . Simon was a recipient of a heart transplant himself, and he went on to become a professional soccer player. What a way to fight back. We're inspired by his strength, which we'll try to hang onto as we cross those desert dunes. Oh boy.
The Michael J Fox Foundation

We are so honoured to not only run/hobble/crawl to the finish line on this team, but to do it alongside runners actually living with Parkinson's. What an incredible opportunity. Only 26 miles... No. Big. Deal.

CHALLENGE:
November 22-December 2, 2012 — Costa Rica Charity Trek

Costa Rica is calling our names. Rain forest trek. San Jose, through cloud forest, to Playa Baru where we'll finish on the beach for the Livestrong Foundation, in honour of those who have battled cancer, in support of those who fight it now, and specifically, for one little boy who has survived a brain tumour. With very few years on this earth he's already shown more courage than must most of know in a lifetime. If he can do that, we can do this. Think we're crazy yet? Good. We never said we weren't.
